Although counselling is not guaranteed to help you and doesn’t suit everyone, it could be good to try it and you may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. If you try it and find you don’t get on with it, you have the right to stop it whenever you want to.

Don’t be embarrassed about going to your doctor, you only need to give a brief description about what you are feeling and tell them you believe counselling may help. They should be able to refer you to counsellor on the NHS for free.

Alternatively, if you look through your phone book, there will be local organisations listed under Counselling that you could pay privately to see.  Often the first session will be free, if not, ask, it gives you the opportunity to asses if counselling or the counsellor are going to be suitable for you.

The main thing is to realise just how wonderful you are; to know that this is just a blip in your life that you will get through. To know how talented and skilled you are. To be happy with yourself and all of your quirks, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Don’t strive to be ‘normal’, strive to be your authentic individual self and never, ever, give up.
