Be Positive – How To Positively Get That Job


If you believe in yourself, you will radiate positivity and potential employers will find that an attractive quality for their business and will be intrigued to know more about you, both as a person and as a business investment.

Any negativity you portray in your interview will be perceived as a weakness. Avoid this at all costs.

You need to put a positive slant on anything you say.  This includes talking about:

1. Experience

2. Skills

3. Qualifications

4. Strengths and weaknesses

5. Gaps in employment

If you cannot think of any weaknesses in an interview, that in itself, is considered a weakness.  You should be able to confidently turn all potential negatives about yourself, into strengths.

When you state a weakness, always follow it, with a positive attitude statement.

For example;

Weakness:  “I can talk a lot.”  

Positive attitude statement:  “Which can also be a strength, because it means I find it easy to strike up a conversation with people.”

Weakness:  “I can be self critical.”

Positive attitude statement:  “Which can also be a strength, because I am constantly looking for ways to improve my own performance to increase sales for the business.”

Be prepared to elaborate through your past work experiences.


It is important in any interview that your actions speak as loud as your words.  

Four top tips:

  1. Don’t fold your arms in front of your body, let them hang by your side or rest on your lap.
  2. Maintain eye contact, but don’t stare.
  3. Smile.  It gives the impression you are warm, friendly and approachable.
  4. Sitting upright, rather than slouching, appears you are attentive and interested.


  1. Be enthusiastic
  2. Talk as if you see yourself being in the company for at least the next few years
  3. Ask questions about company performance
  4. Ask questions related to the performance of the specific branch/office you would be working at

The more you appear to take an interest in the job role and in the company, the more the interviewer with think positively about you, so doing research before your interview is essential.

In order to get the job, you still need to match your skills and experiences to that particular role. You need to make the interviewer believe you are the best person for the job, so think positive, talk positive and act positive. If you have a positive mind, then positive things will happen for you. If you don’t believe in yourself and you don’t think you will get the job, then it’s unlikely that you will, as the interviewer will sense your negativity even if you are trying your best to hide it. Remember, positivity breeds success.
